Christmas Fun Tournament 2004

Thursday 23rd December

Entries are now being taken for our sixth Christmas Fun Tournament. Entry form and full details here.

This tournament is designed to appeal to all standards of player including parents and adult friends of the club. We aim to provide many prizes, not only for chess success but just for turning up. We also offer a free Christmas Tea partly through donations of sandwiches, cakes etc.

Last year we had over ninety entries and would reasonably expect a few more this year. However there is a limit on space for everyone's comfort. So although we hope we don't have to turn anyone away.......

Several parents who either play just at home or haven't played for a long time have taken part and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Other parents are pleased to have some free time before the big day. Similarly younger juniors have also taken part in a tournament for the first time knowing that there is no pressure on them to win. For the serious player though there is the chance to win prizes including the Little Heath and Brookmans Park Christmas Champion title (and trophy).

As we want everyone to have a great time, the actual structure of the tournament may be altered before the day. For example, we could split up the serious adult players from the casual players and junior beginners from the more advanced players.

In February Half Term we run our annual Chess Week. Last year we ran five daytime sessions for juniors including a UK Chess Challenge tournament and two evening Learn Chess sessions for adults. Please ask for more details.
