Season 2007 - 2008

That's it - season over. The Third team lost 3 - 2 to the young St Albans 6 team. Jakob Yianni and Ben Collins secured their first wins for the club.

The Second team completed their season with a defeat by Letchworth 2. Next season - a new division. Just one Third team match left to round off the season.

The First team ensured their survival in Division 2 with a 3 - 2 victory at Bishop's Stortford. Well done!

Our UK Chess Challenge event was held at North Mymms Cricket Club. A wide range of ages meant that just about everyone qualified for the Megafinal stage. Particular congratulations to Akash Jain with a perfect 21 points, Radha Jain with 19 points (her only loss was to her big brother) and to Under 8 Seb Larsson who achieved 17 points thanks to a big victory over Suffolk's U11 board 1 in the final round.

The Middlesex Division 4 season is now finished for us.

Record is  P12 W5 D2 L5. Over the board 15 wins 16 draws and 12 defeats with one default against us and four in our favour (from one match).

Chris +7 =1 -1

Steve +3 =1 -2

Adam +2 =5 -1

Ronan +2 =4 -3

Others (6 players) +1 =5 - 5

A good first season which may give us third place. Meanwhile the Third team were winning 3.5 - 1.5 at Royston. Mod drew on 1, Tomas, John and Terry won on the next boards and we defaulted on five. Well done chaps!

Chris is now an ECF Accredited Coach.

The Second team pulled off an unlikely draw at Bishop's Stortford. Mike Turner earned a good draw on board 1 whilst at the other end Chris played with just 35 minutes on the clock and won. Four matches to go to climb to third from bottom!

The Second team have their first win of the season after Hertford 4 proposed draws in the two remaining matches.

Hammersmith failed to fulfil their fixture against us in the Middlesex League.

The First team currently stand at 2 - 1.5 against Hertford 2. Mike Turner's game is going to adjudication.

The Third team beat Welwyn Hatfield 4 by 3 - 2.

Potters Bar defeated Metropolitan by 3.5 - 0.5.

A crazy evening courtesy of Network Rail. The First team won 3 - 2 after two Royston players were caught up in disruption and defaulted. In Division 7, the visitors from Royston arrived with four players and were defeated 3 - 2 after a tense win by John Yianni and first victory for Terry Feldman. Details on the results page.

Potters Bar drew with Edmonton 2 - 2.

The First team lost at home to Bishop's Stortford 1.
